Stone Edge Slowdown after Upgrade to Windows 7

Symptom

• After upgrading to Windows 7 with MS Access 2007 or 2010, Stone Edge experiences overall slowness

• The task bar displays "Running query" together with a process bar, and it takes longer than expected to return the query results

• May also be experienced with Windows Server 2008 R2 and MS Access 2007 or 2010

Cause

• Compatibility issues between Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 ACE driver for MS Access 2007 and 2010

Solution

Short-term Solution

• Apply Microsoft hotfix for MS Access 2010, which is presently available at:

• Apply Microsoft hotfix for MS Access 2007, which is presently available at:

Description of the Office Access 2007 hotfix package (Ace-x-none.msp, Access-x-none.msp): August 30, 2011

Microsoft Hotfixes should only be applied by those users who are definitely affected by this issue.

Permanent Solution

• Download and install (apply) Office 2010 SP2 when it becomes available from Microsoft
