Overview

Upgrading from Stone Edge 2012 V7.0 to Stone Edge 2012 V7.1

  1. Refer to the Monsoon Commerce  Implementation Guide and the Knowledge Base topics starting with Installing and Configuring MCPM and Stone Edge... for details. It is necessary to configure the Monsoon Commerce Payment Module and cleanse V7.0 and lower store data files of payment card account numbers before implementing Stone Edge V7.1.

Upgrading Stone Edge 7.1 to a higher release

  1. Schedule this activity off-hours when all users can be logged out of the program and there is sufficient time to install the software and convert the store data file to the new format.

  2. Review the system requirements for the current release of the program, especially those about Microsoft Access.

  3. Make sure that the latest version of all custom reports, queries, forms, modules or tables have been exported to the Custom  Reports database.

  4. Close all instances of OMS in the complex. Close any other applications, such as shipping software, that may be accessing the OMS data file.

  5. As a precaution, BACK UP THE DATA FILE, the Custom Reports.mdb and the Email Templates folder. The latter two should be located in the same file folder as your data file.

  6. Using an Internet browser, go to: http://www.stoneedge.net/dlgateway.

  7. Enter the user name and password provided in the email received from Stone Edge Technologies Inc. when the program was originally purchased or when you last renewed your support contract.

  8. Download the Stone Edge application and Save it in a location that is backed up regularly, such as the location of the store data file. This ensures you will have a copy of the installer in the event that you have to re-install the program. Stone Edge Technologies Inc. only keeps the latest version its programs at the download gateway. If you do not keep a copy of the installer and the program must be re-installed on a single workstation in the future, you would also have to upgrade all workstations to the version of the application that is presently available on the download gateway.  

  9. Navigate to the location of the installer, right-click and select Run as Administrator.

  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest versions of OMS .

  11. Launch the new version of OMS on one workstation and convert the data file to the new version's format.

  12. Once satisfied that the program is working fine, backup the converted store data file and install the latest versions of the program on all other workstations in the complex.
