Merchants with multiple stores should consider whether to set up one Order Manager datafile with many stores (or shopping carts) or one datafile per store (or shopping cart). Generally speaking, if the stores share inventory, set up multiple stores in one datafile. If the stores are separate independent businesses, set up one datafile per store.
If you need to report on each store or shopping cart separately, you may need to build custom reports if you maintain them all in one datafile. The number of standard reports by shopping cart id is limited. Refer to the Resources section of our Web site for third party assistance with custom reports.
