Updating Order Status with Volusion

The Order Manager began supporting order status updates to Volusion shopping carts with the Order Manager 5.8XX Beta series.

Note: The External Stack Controller (version 2.4.03 and lower) is not compatible with a Volusion shopping cart. Use the Shared Stack configuration instead.

  1. Volusion shopping carts do not require system parameter, UseGenericStatusUpdates to be set to TRUE.

  1. Volusion only accepts an order status of "Shipped", and therefore, that is the only value that the Order Manager will send when a status event has been triggered for a Volusion order. Since the Order Manager is not allowed to set the status to any other value, the program can effectively only change the status of an order at Volusion once.

  2. At this point in time, the program also requires that a tracking number is also available to be sent along with the status update or an update will not be sent.

  3. Therefore, when choosing a status event that will trigger the sending of a status update to Volusion when the status of an order is changed to Shipped in the Order Manager, the recommended Status Event to use is OrderAddTrackingNumber. (See Status Events for more details.)

  4. Check the Notify Cart box next to the Status Event that will trigger updates to be sent to the shopping cart.

Note: If you experience a status update failure, please check the Stack Controller for an error message. See Accessing the Stack Controller to learn how to open the Stack Viewer. On the Websites Updates tab, look for a message with "greater than 10" in the Attempts column and a description in the Last Response column. Contact Stone Edge Support if the Last Response field is blank or you can't resolve the error.
