The Order Manager works directly with the most popular shopping cart systems. However, for merchants who use a system we do not support or a custom-built shopping cart, we offer a "generic" version of the Order Manager. If you have the ability to access the data gathered by your shopping cart and can manipulate the output of the data, you can use one of our generic import methods to import orders, and possibly customers, products and quantity-on-hand (QOH) data.
To make your system work with ours, you need our software's import specifications. The text file-based import specifications only support importing orders from existing text files; they do not support downloading files or importing customers, products, etc. directly. The XML-based import specifications support direct communication with shopping carts (assuming that you can create a script for the cart that is compatible with our specifications). It also supports importing products and customers and quantity-on-hand synchronization. For information on either import specification, please refer to the Developer's Guide.
In order to define a "Generic" shopping cart in the Order Manager, please refer to the Knowledge Base page, Create/Edit Shipping Cart. The value of the Cart Type field should be "Generic".
