Note: This document applies to legacy versions of the program and is being left in the knowledge base temporarily as a courtesy to users that may still be running those versions. Users of Order Manager 5.9 and greater should refer to the knowledge base article entitled Setting Up Order Manager's Internal UPS Shipping for information about setting up UPS Online Tools.
The Order Manager easily integrates with UPS Online Tools. UPS Online Tools is a suite of shipping and tracking tools available to a limited number of independent software vendors. The Stone Edge Order Manager integration with UPS Online Tools enables a merchant to get real-time shipping rates, real-time tracking, and rate shopping to help select the best UPS shipping method to use. To use these tools, the merchant must be a domestic United States UPS customer with a valid UPS account.
This document covers:
Getting a UPS Online Tools Access Code
Before using UPS Online Tools you must register with UPS and be granted a UPS Access code through the Order Manager.
Go to the Maintenance Menu>Setup Functions tab>Store Setup Wizard>Shipping Tab>UPS Online Tools Setup button.
The UPS Online Tools registration wizard opens. You must have your UPS account number and the address for which the account is set up. Complete all fields.
Lastly, click Get Access Code before closing the form.

Setting up Shipping Methods for Real-time Rates
From the Store Setup Wizard, click on the Shipping tab.
To configure shipping methods that currently exist in the Order Manager, select a shipping method and click the Edit button found in the upper left corner of the screen. Or, if you are creating a new shipping method, click Add and enter a name for the shipping method.
On the Shipping Method Setup dialog box you will see the name that you created for this shipping method. Select the Shipper's name for this method from the drop down list. The "Carrier" and "Shipper's Code" fields are populated automatically.

Click the Use real-time rates check box.
Click OK.
Repeat for each UPS shipping method you use.
Rate Shopping allows you to shop for the least expensive or quickest shipping methods. This information is only available at the Manual Orders form.
On the Manual Orders screen, click the
button.
A window opens displaying all UPS shipping methods that are configured to use real-time rate shopping and are available for the destination Zip code.
If you wish to show ALL UPS shipping methods and not just the ones you have set up in the Order Manager, set the system parameter UPSShowAllRatesAtRateShop to True. All shipping methods will be displayed with UPS' name of the shipping method unless it is one that you have setup to use real-time rates. In that case, your name for the shipping method will be substituted for UPS' name.
Note: Prior to rate shopping, you do not need to have a shipping method selected, but you must have entered the destination Zip code and added at least one product with a weight to the order.
If you have registered for UPS Online Tools you will notice that the package tracking system at the View Orders screen is replaced by the UPS Online Tools tracking system.
At the View Orders screen, navigate to any order that has a UPS tracking number.
Click on the Shipping & Tracking tab.
Click on a tracking number.
Click Track Package.
Even though the Order Manager is distributed as open source software you are encouraged NOT to attempt to customize any code dealing with the UPS Online Tools. All communications between the Stone Edge Order Manager and UPS's production servers are closely monitored. Altering the communications with UPS could potentially void your rights to use these tools.
Please be aware that when using the integrated UPS Online Tools system there is no way to produce an End of Day report, as is the case with UPS Worldship, nor is there any need to do so. As shipping labels are printed via Order Manager's interface to the UPS Online Tools system, the package information is sent in real-time to UPS, thereby eliminating the need for an EOD report, unlike UPS Worldship, which uses a batch update process. Because of the nature of the UPS Online Tools system, it is also not possible to produce a single report of the day's orders with a single barcode. It can sometimes be difficult to convince UPS drivers that they do not need to scan anything when making daily pickups, but they can confirm this information with their supervisors or UPS headquarters.
