Shippers and Shipping Methods

Use this form to enter Carriers, add Shipping Methods and to set the Tracking Number Email Template for each Carrier. If necessary, you can also change the Track Button Prefix and Suffix.

 

Enter Carriers
  1. Go to the Main Menu>Maintenance Menu>Shipping & Fulfillment tab>Shipping Setup button>Shippers & Methods button. The Shipping tab from the Store Setup Wizard opens.

  2. To add a carrier, click the Add button. Enter the code and name and click OK.

  3. To edit the code or name of a carrier, click the Edit button. Edit either the code or name and click OK. Note: You may see a message box stating you can only edit the name and not the code of a particular carrier.

  4. To delete a carrier, click the Delete button. Note: You cannot delete the standard Carriers, i.e. USPS, UPS, DHL and FedEx.

 

Set Up Shipping Methods
  1. Go to the Main Menu>Maintenance Menu>Shipping & Fulfillment tab>Shipping Setup button>Shippers & Methods button. The Shipping tab from the Store Setup Wizard opens.

  2. Under Shipping Methods, click the Add button to add additional shipping methods to the list as required.

  3. The Enter your name for this shipping method dialog box appears.

  4. Enter the name of the shipping method exactly as it appears in your shopping cart program. Click OK.

  5. The Shipping Method Setup dialog box opens. Select the Shipper’s name for this method from the drop down list. Click OK. The Carrier and Shipper’s Code fields are completed automatically.

  6. Repeat these steps until each shipping method in your shopping cart program appears in the list.

 

Note: You can add up to 30 shipping methods.

Select a Tracking Number Email Template for a Carrier

The Tracking Number Email Template drop-down list is where you select a template for sending tracking number emails to customers.  You can select templates per carrier or one template for all carriers. To select a template:

  1. To set a template per carrier, select a carrier from the Carriers list box. To set the template for all carriers, do not select a Carrier from the drop-down list.

  2. Click the arrow on the Tracking Number Email Template drop-down list and select one of the two default tracking number templates that are pre-loaded into the drop-down list:

Note: These are basic templates that you can edit later (from the View Orders screen), when you are more familiar with the program. You can also create your own email templates. See the article, Email Template Editor for more information.

  1. Click Save New Settings.

 

Enter a Track Button Prefix or Suffix

The major shipping carriers use standard "prefixes," (and sometimes suffixes) in front (and behind) a tracking number that enables access to that carrier's tracking web pages. When sending tracking numbers to your customers in an email, the Order Manager automatically adds the necessary prefixes (and suffixes, if applicable) to the tracking numbers generated by your shipping carrier, so users can click the link and access the carrier's tracking web pages.

 

The Track Button Prefix fields are pre-set with the necessary prefixes for FedEx, UPS, and USPS tracking numbers (these carriers currently do not use suffixes). Therefore, you do not usually need to enter anything in these fields. However, shipping carriers occasionally change their links to their tracking web pages.
