You can build lots containing multiple pieces of a single item. For example, if you sell batteries by the piece, you can "transfer" inventory from the single unit SKU to the lot SKU and sell packages of ten in addition to single batteries. This provides you with an accurate inventory count at-a-glance; you can easily see how many single pieces you have in stock versus how many ten-packs you have in stock. Conversely, if you see that you are almost sold out of single pieces but still have many ten-packs in stock, you can break down some or all of the lot SKUs to replenish your inventory of single pieces.
Before you can begin building lot SKUs, you must enter the Single Unit SKUs and lot SKUs into inventory first.
Go to Main Menu>Maintenance Menu>Inventory & Suppliers>Inventory. The View Inventory dialog box opens.
In the bottom left corner of the Product Info tab, there is a section called Selling by Lots: If this item consists of multiple units of a different SKU:.
Complete this section for every lot SKU you enter into your inventory. Note that you can select which SKU appears on the Purchase Orders (Versions 4.1 and higher).

To open the Transfer Inventory dialog box, go to Main Menu>Maintenance Menu>Inventory & Suppliers>Transfer Inventory.
SKUs that are multiple unit "Lots" of other SKUs
This section of the dialog box displays existing lot SKUs, their Name or description, the Quantity On Hand (QOH), and the equivalent Single Unit SKU. You can sort the display by lot SKU or Name.
Note: If you have not built any lots yet, you will see a QOH of 0 (zero).
Single Unit SKU
This section provides details about the pieces in the Lot SKU that is selected in the top portion of the screen, such as the name of the piece or Single Unit SKU, the QOH, the quantity per lot, and the maximum number of lots that can be built based on the QOH.
Selected (Lot) SKU
In this section, specify how many lots to make or how many lots to break down if you are working with a single SKU that is selected in the top section of the screen above. Enter a quantity in the appropriate field and click Build Lots or Break Down Lots.
Build or Break Down Specified Lots
Use the lower right-hand portion of the screen to manipulate a range of SKUs. First, select the radio button of the operation to be performed, Build or Break Down. Then, enter the Quantity of lots to build or check the All Possible checkbox.
Next, indicate the range of Single Unit SKUs from which you want to build lots by entering the common beginning or ending characters, depending on the naming convention you use. Do the same for lot SKUs that you wish to break down. A field is provided to specify the inventory level at which a lot should be broken down. For example, if a lot SKU begins with "SH" and the lot’s QOH is less than or equal to 10, the program will transfer the inventory to the Single Unit SKU.
Lastly, click Build Specified Lots. When you are finished, click Close to exit the Transfer Inventory to "Lot" SKUs dialog box.
