Kits

A kit contains a set of parts that can be sold together or individually. A kit SKU is also referred to as a parent SKU. The Order Manager identifies a kit SKU when an order is imported and adds each component as a line item to the order record.

The Order Manager assumes that kits are always in stock. When it creates an order record, it enters a cost of zero but assigns the price charged on the website. Manually-entered orders are handled in the same way except that the price assigned to the kit is the price that is stored in the Order Manager. The Order Manager then adds line items for each component in the kit. If inventory tracking is enabled, the program subtracts the number of pieces ordered from the Quantity-On-Hand and backorders any items that are not in stock. Finally, it enters the cost of each item but sets the price to zero.

Build a Kit

  1. Enter the kit or parent SKU record in the Inventory screen. (Go to the Main Menu>Maintenance Menu>Inventory & Suppliers tab>Inventory button or Quick Clicks>Inventory.)

  2. Click on the Kits button on the Inventory & Suppliers tab of the Maintenance Menu.

  3. The Define Kits dialog box opens:

  1. Select the kit SKU from the drop down list or click the Search button to search for it. If you click Just Kits, as in the image below, the drop down list will only contain kit SKUs that have already been defined in this screen.

  1. Select a product from the SKU to Add drop down list.

  2. Enter the quantity of the item included in the kit.

  3. Click Add to add the item to the Parts in this Kit list.

  4. Repeat these steps until all components of the kit are added to the Parts in this Kit list, as in the image below.

  1. If necessary, click the Inherit Kit Options checkbox for one or more of the items. Inheriting options means that any options selected by the customer for the main Kit SKU (color, size, style, etc.) would also appear in the line items for those kit parts. For more information on Options, see Options, Attributes and Sub SKUs.

  2. To delete an item from the Parts in this Kit list, select the item and click the Delete button.

  3. Click Close to exit the Define Kits dialog box.
