Stone Edge Technologies 2008 User Conference & Meeting
Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th, Chicago, IL

It's that time of year for the next Stone Edge User Conference. If you haven't been to one of our meetings yet, you don't know what you're missing! Our user conferences are your only opportunity to meet face-to-face with the people who develop and support the Order Manager, as well as other end users, consultants and 3rd party developers.

Last year's Conference in San Jose, California was scheduled to coincide with the Internet Retailer Conference. That worked out so well that we decided to do it again. This year the Internet Retailer Conference is moving to Chicago, so we will be holding our first Stone Edge User Conference in the Mid-West.  Read below for conference details so you can start making your plans now:

When: Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th 2008, plus a reception Friday evening for those who arrive early. (The Internet Retailer Conference runs June 9th to June 12th.)

Where: Sheraton Chicago Northwest in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The Sheraton is about 15 miles from O'Hare Airport, and 30 miles from the McCormick Place convention center in downtown Chicago where the Internet Retailer Conference will be held. We will offer low-cost transportation on Monday morning for those who need to get downtown.

Prices: $500 per person between now and May 1st. After May 1st, the price will increase to $600 per person. The price includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Saturday. It does NOT include the hotel rooms. We have a block of rooms reserved at $119 per night. To get the $119 price, you must make your reservations by May 16th, 2008 and mention that you are attending the Stone Edge Technologies User Conference. There is an additional charge of about $10 per night for high-speed Internet in the rooms, and there is free wireless Internet in the lobby. The conference is open to anyone who wants to attend, but registration is limited to 150 people.

Other Details: As usual, there will be separate tracks for Training and Power Users. Attendees will be able to go to sessions from either track.  We only have room for 150 attendees, so sign up now!

Merchants' Best Tips & Tricks

This is your chance to show off some of the hard-learned lessons you have learned about running your business, and then to learn from other merchants’ experience, too! It doesn’t have to have anything to do with the Order Manager. What are your best tips and tricks for managing employees, negotiating with shippers and other vendors, improving your SEO, finding warehouse space, or any of the other myriad tasks that business owners and managers face. We will open the floor to anyone with a suggestion or a question, then vote for your favorites. If you like, bring along something from your company that we can give away as prizes for the most valuable and funniest suggestions, and the ones that come with the best stories. After a day and a half of serious classes, this session should be a lot of fun and valuable, too!

Training Track

Workflow, Tips & Tricks

This session will cover various ways of handling your orders, from the time they are imported until they are out of the door. It will include modifying orders and handling returns, exchanges and RMAs. It will also cover many of the tips, tricks and shortcuts that will help you use the Order Manager even more efficiently.

Custom Reports

This session will be a primer on customizing reports. It will include the basics of using the Access report generator and the best way to integrate your custom reports into the Order Manager’s Custom Reports menu and to replace our standard reports with your customized versions. The course will also cover setting up the program to produce different invoice or packing slip reports based on the source of the order.

QuickBooks

Presented by guest speaker Roxanne Brown
Learn all about using the Order Manager with QuickBooks from guest speaker Roxanne Brown. Roxanne is an accountant and consultant who has helped many Order Manager users to integrate the Order Manager with their accounting system. The discussion will involve the setup of the proper accounts in the Order Manager and best practices to observe prior to each export, what to save during the year, and what you will need for end of year tax preparations.

Packing & Shipping

What are the different ways to print shipping labels with the Order Manager? Should you use the carrier's software (UPS Worldship, FedEx Ship Manager, etc.)? Or should you print your labels from within the Order Manager? Should you use the Order Manager's new built-in shipping system, or stick with ShipRush? How does "Pack & Ship" work, and how is it different from the new "Quick Ship" feature?

Purchase Orders

The Purchase Order system is very powerful, but that means there is also a lot to learn about it. This session will cover the different ways of generating purchase orders, modifying them, receiving inventory, reconciling the invoices from your vendors, etc. It will include both regular and drop ship purchase orders.

Drop Shipping & Fulfillment

What is the difference between drop shopping and using a fulfillment service? What are the different ways of sending orders to drop shippers and fulfillment centers? How can you get tracking data back from those companies and into the Order Manager, then out to your customers? Those questions and more will be covered in this session.

Inventory A – General Info

What are all of those inventory fields used for? How can you import and export product information? How does “real time inventory tracking” work? This session will cover all of the basics about managing your products and your inventory with the Order Manager.

Inventory B – Sub SKUs

Do you want to track your inventory down to specific attributes, such as color, size, style, etc.? The Order Manager can do that, but setting it up properly can be a daunting task. This session will cover everything from how to set up your products in your shopping cart, to configuring the Order Manager correctly for your business, to importing products and creating sub-SKUs. We will also cover alternate uses for product “options”, such as options that represent additional products.

Power Users Track

Automation

The main purpose of the Order Manager is to help you streamline your operations and save time and money. In this session you will learn ways to use the Order Manager to further automate some of your daily tasks. Allow the program to process order approvals and capture funds at time of import. Use Batch Printing to process documents and shipping labels. Use the Multi-Order Processor to handle large numbers of orders in a hurry. Use the Batch Drop-Ship Processing system to send out all drop-ships with a single click. Batch fill your backorders after receiving against POs or mass email an update to your customers who may be waiting for those backorders.

Customizing the Order Manager

Did you know that the Order Manager has hidden buttons on some screens that can be turned on and used to call custom functions or open your own custom screens? Or that there are "hooks" throughout the program where custom functions can be linked in without disrupting the program? Learn the secrets of customizing the Order Manager, including sample code that you can use as a starting point for your own custom add-ons.

The Enterprise Version

Panel discussion and open Q & A session. Learn how some of the most experienced Order Manager users are expanding their operations with the Enterprise Version. See examples of Web-based add-ons that they have developed and hear how they are integrating the Order Manager with other systems. Find out how the Enterprise Version can help your company grow and will easily keep pace with that growth!

Remote User Support

This session will discuss and demonstrate different ways of using the Order Manager from remote locations. It will cover the use of applications like GoToMyPC.com and similar desktop sharing systems. Remote Desktop, Terminal Services and VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) are also possible server-based options that require additional planning during installation.

Security

What are the best ways to protect your customer’s sensitive data? This session will cover all of the ways to secure the Order Manager and your company’s information, including different ways to handle credit card data and how to set up Users, Groups and Permissions to control what your employees are able to do and see in the Order Manager.
